Masik Shivratri holds special significance in Hinduism, celebrated monthly on the Chaturdashi tithi (fourteenth day) of Krishna Paksha (waning moon phase). This day is dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, where devotees seek their divine blessings through rituals and prayers. It is believed that those who observe a strict fast on Masik Shivratri receive the full blessings of Shiva and Shakti, leading to spiritual upliftment and fulfillment of desires.
The observance of Masik Shivratri is considered highly auspicious, as it provides an opportunity for devotees to connect deeply with Lord Shiva, who is revered as the supreme deity of destruction and transformation. The fast observed on this day is often nirjala (without water), reflecting the devotee's unwavering faith and devotion. The rituals performed include the offering of bel leaves, flowers, fruits, and milk to the Shiva Lingam, along with the recitation of Shiva mantras and prayers.
Bhardrapada Masik Shivratri 2024: Auspicious time
According to the Hindu calendar, the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month will start on September 01 at 03:40 in the night. At the same time, it will end the next day on September 02 at 05:21 in the morning. There is importance of worship during Nisha Kaal on Masik Shivratri. Therefore, Shivratri of Bhadrapada month will be celebrated on September 01.
Bhardrapada Masik Shivratri 2024: Worship method (Puja Vidhi)
The devotee should wake up in the morning and take a bath. As soon as you wake up in the morning, take a vow to fast in front of Lord Shiva. Install the idol of Shiva-Parvati on an altar and worship them according to the rituals. Anoint Lord Shiva with Panchamrit. Apply a tilak of white sandalwood. Offer vermilion to Goddess Parvati. Light a lamp of cow ghee. Offer kheer and white sweets. Along with this, offer a garland of madar flowers.
Must offer Belpatra to Lord Shiva. Recite Shiva Tandava Stotra and Shiva Chalisa. Conclude the worship with Aarti. Apologize for the mistakes made in the worship. The fasting person should break his fast the next day.
