When Lord Kuber became the God of Wealth, he went to Lord Vishwakarma i.e., his grandfather and asked for a place to live. With this request, he built the magnificent city on the Mandara temple and named it Alkapuri.Apart from this Lord Vishwakarma built chariots for God’s, which include Pushpak Vimaan, weapons for Gods such as Vijay Dhanush, which was made on special request of Lord Shiva for the supreme God Indra. After which it was gifted by Lord Indra to Parshuram.
It is believed that on the occasion of Vishwakarma Puja, Lord Vishwakarma blesses those who respect and worship their tools and remains true to their work. Smiths, builders, craftsmen, welders, industrialists etc. give rest to their tools for this day and pray to the almighty for their better future and success
