This temple is a Shakti Sthal like Kamakhya Temple in Assam. Here men are not allowed to enter the temple premises when it is the time of the goddess's menstruation. During this time, only women can enter to take care of the temple
Very strict rules have been made here regarding this. Even the priest of the temple cannot enter the premises during this auspicious time. Women are also responsible for worship and aarti in the temple.
Goddess Kanyakumari, Kanyakumari- Men are not allowed to visit this temple located in the southern part of India at any time 365 days of the year. Only sannyasin men are allowed till the entrance of the temple, while the entry of married men is prohibited in the premises.
Goddess Bhagwati is worshiped in this temple and it is considered as one of the 52 Shakti Peethas. According to the Puranas, the right shoulder and part of the spine of Sati fell at this place which is located inside the Kanyakumari temple. There are also some beliefs that at this place Lord Shiva had insulted Mother Parvati at the time of marriage and since then there is a ban on men coming here.
