Veerabhadra is considered to be the Gana of Lord Shiva. This incarnation was born from his hair. When Mata Sati had abandoned her body in a yagna organized by King Daksha, the father-in-law of Lord Shiva, in anger, Lord Shiva pulled a hair from her head and threw it on the mountain. From the anterior part of that hair, the great Veerbhadra appeared. This incarnation of Shiva destroyed Daksha's yajna and cut off Daksha's head and placed it in front of Shiva. Later, Lord Shiva put a goat's head on the head of King Daksha and revived him.
