Pitru Paksha Shradh
During Pitru Paksha, the Shradh of ancestors is performed and tarpan is performed for the peace of their soul. Along with this, it is also said that if Pitru Dosh is arising in the horoscope of the native, then it is eliminated by performing tarpan in Pitru Paksha. In this sequence, it is also mentioned in our scriptures.According to Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta, it is said that any creature that takes birth in this world will die and then be born again, but after death only the body is abandoned, the soul remains immortal forever and the soul is born again in a new body and this cycle continues again and again. In this way, the soul takes birth as a human and leaves it, then the human dies and then Shradh rituals are performed for the peace of that soul.
Pitru Paksha Shradh: Who are ancestors?
It is generally said that the person who dies becomes an ancestor. Something similar has been said in Garuda Purana as well. According to Garuda Purana, after the death of a person, the soul gets different yonis according to his deeds in Yamalok. Those who do virtuous deeds get Pitrilok in Devlok.According to beliefs, it is said that ancestors come to earth for three reasons, first it is said that they come to see how their lineage is going on. In the second reason it is said that they come and see whether they are being given water and food or not and in the third reason it is said whether any deeds are being done for the peace of their soul or not.
