Fifth Day of Navaratri 2024: Maa Skandamata

Maa Skandamata is worshiped today, on the fifth day of Navratri. Skandamata is a manifested form of Goddess Durga, representing wisdom and discretion with the colour white, symbolizing peace and purity. Worshiping Skandamata ji also eliminates any negative powers or energies surronding you.

Skandamata Mata: Significance  


The fifth day of Navaratri is devoted in the worship of Skandamata Ji. Maa Skandamata is the mother of Kartikeya, and because of this reason, Kartikeya ji is seated in the holy hands of Skandamata in his child form. 

Skandamata's vahan (sawari) is a lion and according to beliefs, it is said that by worshiping Maa Skandamata, any devotee is blessed with a child.

 

Maa Skandamata: Puja Muhurta (shubh muhurat)


Maa Skandamata will be worshiped today, October 7. 

  • Today Brahma Muhurta is from 4:39 am to 5:29 am. 
  • Abhijeet Muhurta will be from 11:45 am to 12:32 pm.
     

Maa Skandamata: Beej Mantra

Mantra: Om Aim Hreem Kleem Skandamataye Namah
 

Skandamata Mata: Puja method (Puja Vidhi) 

  • After taking a bath, wear clean clothes before doing puja.
  • Keep the woship place clean and purify it with Gangajal.
  • Instill the idol of Skandamata and keep a kalash infront of her for worship.
  • Keep a lighted lamp before her and chant mantras.
  • Also offer flowers, lamp, naivedya to the Maa.
  • Chant the Skandamata mantra and perform aarti for Maa.
  • offer and distribute prasad among the family members as well.
