Goverdhan Parvat Katha:

The story of Govardhan mountain is associated with Lord Shri Krishna. According to religious beliefs, it is said that once there was heavy rain in his city, after which a flood situation started arising there, and to save the residents of his city, he lifted the Govardhan mountain with one of his fingers. But why did Shri Krishna lift Govardhan mountain for seven days (Krishna ji ne Govardhan Parvat kyu Uthaya)? Let's know in this article.

Govardhan Parvat Katha

According to religious beliefs, it is said that once Devraj Indra became very proud of his powers. He had thought that the people of Braj should worship only him. Once when Shri Krishna saw that all the people of Braj were preparing to worship Indradev, he asked Yashoda Mata why this was happening. Mother Yashoda said that Indradev rains and produces our crops, and that is why we worship him.

Shri Krishna said that it is Indradev's job to rain, but we should worship Govardhan mountain because our cows graze on this mountain and we get milk, curd, and other milk products from here. Obeying Shri Krishna, all the Brajvasis started worshiping Govardhan Mountain instead of Indradev. Seeing this, Indradev got very angry and started pouring catastrophic rain on Braj.

All the Brajvasis got very scared and went to Shri Krishna. Shri Krishna lifted the Govardhan mountain with his finger and gave shelter to all the Brajvasis under it. For seven days, Shri Krishna lifted the Govardhan mountain in this way and protected all the Brajvasis.

When Indradev realized his mistake, he apologized to Shri Krishna and Shri Krishna forgave him. Since then the festival of Govardhan Puja has been celebrated. In this festival, we remember this Leela of Lord Shri Krishna and thank him.
