Garuda Purana: The Garuda Purana is one of the eighteen major Puranas in Hinduism. These ancient texts cover a range of topics including cosmology, mythology, ethics, and rituals.

The Garuda Purana provides an in-depth look at the relationship between life and death. It explains that death is inevitable once we are born and that after death, the soul leaves the body to enter a new existence. This Purana focuses on the rituals associated with death and is considered important for purifying the home and bringing mental peace to the family. It contains a total of 19,000 verses and is divided into two parts. The first part deals with devotion to Lord Vishnu and the importance of the Garuda Purana after death. In this blog, we will explore the severe punishments described in the Garuda Purana for men who commit atrocities against women, such as sexual abuse or physical violence.

Punishment for Men Who Misuse Their Power Over Other Women

Men who look at other women with bad intentions or attempt to exploit them face severe punishments in hell, according to the Garuda Purana. Their souls are bound to burning iron pillars, and every tiny part of their soul is scorched. This intense punishment makes them deeply regret their actions. After serving their time, they are reborn as hyenas in their next life.

Punishment for Rape of Virgins or Minors

According to this ancient scripture, men who commit such a heinous act are destined to face terrible consequences in their next life. They are reborn as pythons, a symbol of evil and danger.

In the afterlife, these individuals are dragged to hell, where they are presented before Yama, the god of death. Yama, after considering the gravity of their crime, metes out a gruesome punishment. The sinners are thrown into boiling oil and subjected to endless torture.

Punishment for Female Feticide

People who commit the sin of killing female fetuses face severe consequences in their next life. According to the Garuda Purana, those involved in this act are reborn as impotent individuals. In hell, they are treated like wild animals and endure harsh punishments. This is done to ensure they do not have the courage to commit the same crime in their next life.

Punishment for Violating a Friend’s Wife

Men who commit sexual assault or betrayal against their friend's wife face severe punishments in hell. According to the Garuda Purana, these offenders endure many years of suffering in hell before being reborn as donkeys. This harsh rebirth is intended to give them another chance to correct their behavior on earth.

Punishment for Misbehaving with a Guru’s Wife

Men who look at their guru’s wife with ill intentions are reborn as chameleons. Those who dishonor the guru’s wife are stripped naked and tortured with hot iron rods in hell. Men who commit unnatural acts are reborn as pigs, where they suffer severe torments for many years before finally being reborn as oxen.

The Garuda Purana describes these punishments based on the sins committed, ensuring that every soul experiences the consequences of their actions in their next life.
